The Director's Office provides strategic planning for the Division's programs to ensure that DGGS is meeting the needs of the public, manages the Division's fiscal affairs, and provides personnel and clerical services. The Director acts as a liaison between the Division and local, state, federal, and private agencies; seeks out and encourages cooperative geologic programs of value to the state; and advises the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources about geologic issues.
Steve provides strategic planning for the Division's programs to ensure DGGS meets the needs of the public as defined by Alaska statute. He manages the Division's fiscal affairs, acting as a liaison between the division and local, state, federal, and private agencies; seeking out and encouraging cooperative geologic programs of value to the state; and advising the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources about geologic issues.
Ken manages daily operations for a diverse team of 50 geoscientists with an annual budget of $10M. He earned his B.S. in Geology from the University of Cincinnati, and his M.S. in Volcanology and Remote Sensing from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Ken has worked for the State for over 10 years as a geologist with DGGS in Fairbanks, a project manager at the Alaska Energy Authority, and the Curator of the Geologic Materials Center (2009-2015).
Shelly is responsible for budget development, accounting, and financial management for the division. She coordinates and supervises all aspects of the administrative functions for the division, including personnel, procurement, travel, inventory, policy and procedure development.
Julia is responsible for personnel, procurement, invoicing, and cell phone requests, and other administrative duties as needed.
Linda excels in helping customers-in person, on the phone, by mail, or by email. She is also responsible for travel, credit card with the maintenance of the DGGS library, travel, timesheet processing, state credit card accounting, public information desk, mail and postage, vehicle coordinator, property records, maintain supplies, and other administrative duties as needed.
Felisa handles AVO procurement, AVO credit card receipts, AVO invoicing, and provides administrative support for the Geologic Mapping Advisory Board and Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission.
