About Us - Director's Office
The Director's Office provides strategic planning for the Division's programs to ensure that DGGS is meeting the needs of the public under the guidelines of AS 41.08.020, manages the Division's fiscal affairs, and provides personnel and clerical services. The Director acts as a liaison between the Division and local, state, federal, and private agencies; seeks out and encourages cooperative geologic programs of value to the state; and advises the Commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources about geologic issues.
Combellick, Rodney A. (Rod)
Division Operations Manager, (907)451-5007Manages the internal operations of the Division to implement its programs and activities, assists the Director in developing the programs and annual budget, and oversees allocation of the Division's human and fiscal resources. Serves as Acting Director in the Director's absence. Rod's geologic work in the Division has been in surficial-geologic mapping, engineering geology, paleoseismology, and tsunami hazards.
Butherus, Vickie J.
Administrative Officer, (907)451-5002Responsible for budget development, accounting, and financial management for the division. Coordinates, performs, and supervises all aspects of the administrative functions for the division, including personnel, procurement, travel, inventory, policy and procedure development.
