Description:
Approximately 65 sq. mi., 1:25,000-scale strip map of the McCallum-Slate Creek fault system, southern foothills of the eastern Alaska Range. The map area abuts against the Gulkana Glacier valley to the northwest and the Chistochina River valley to the southeast. The southeastern segment of the map area is a detailed strip through the Athey et al. (in preparation) Slate Creek STATEMAP. The map project is part of a multidisciplinary NSF-funded research project titled "Investigating geologic controls on temporal-spatial heterogeneous deformation along with a transpressive strike-slip fault system: The eastern Denali Fault Corner". The results of the mapping portion of the project will be published in a peer-reviewed journal article and as a DGGS Report of Investigation.
